I applied for section 8 in Modesto, in November of 2010. I still haven’t heard anything back. Im homeless and just got approved for ssi due to my handicap. I need to get a place to live, but need the voucher to do it. Do you know how long its going to be to hear something about it?
FYI: Not everyone is aware of the fact, If you are on a Section 8 waiting list to receive help with housing…you don’t have to sit around waiting.
If at any time you find a landlord willing to take section 8 & is willing to rent to you….there is a form that landlord fills out and submits to them, which bumps you to the top of the list and you can get your voucher right away. so all you have to do is find a person willing to work with you and you can be in a house by next month.

My name is Sheri Pridemore. Am waiting to sign up for section 8 because I live with my mom and after my brother got out of the military him and his wife and their two children are living here too.
The house is crowded and that we all share bathrooms and that my brother and his wife has the bathroom for a long time. I get tired and exhausted of that and that I have to wait in line even I do not have my own space anymore because of my niece and nephew always in my room and so I have a difficult time. So if anyone can let me know when that happends I sure appreciate it thank you
