I have been trying to find out if there is a waiting list in Iowa for Section 8 voucher applications. Do you have to be a resident of the state/town at the time of applying for Section 8? Is there a central waiting list for the state? Do they accept applications from out of state? We have over 100,000 people on the wait list for Section 8 Voucher applications here in Massachusetts. I am from Iowa, and would like to apply for section 8 housing in Davenport, or Des Moines, or Iowa City. Can you help me. There does not seem to be any information on line answering my questions. Yes, the list is open I am sure in Dubuque and Davenport. No you do not have to be a resident, but you must pick up the application in person they do not mail them and you cant download an app either. As far as Cedar rapids, I am not sure. There are different housing offices for each city or county so you must apply for the city you wish to live in. You should Google Cedar Rapids housing authority, i.e which ever city you are interested in to go directly to their website and you can get the telephone number to call and ask them if they are accepting applications.
